Everett: Go Crimson Tide! I am proud to originate from a community of hard working, street-smart individuals. Many people aren’t aware of Everett’s unique history. For 119 years, until 2014, Everett was the only City in the United States with a bicameral legislature, patterned after the United States government. In 2014 the residents voted to amend the city charter, replacing the 25-member dual branch Common Council and board of Aldermen with an 11-member City Council.
Everett is only 3.4 square land miles, although it is home to the Gateway Shopping Center, Teddy Peanut Butter Factory, Whidden Memorial Hospital, and the future Wynn Casino. Everett is located just north of Boston. It Border’s the cities of Charlestown, Chelsea, Revere, Medford, Malden, and Somerville. Everett is densely populated, with over 45,000 as of 2018.
I am a big fan of Elm Street Bakery’s Italian pastries and Abbondanza Italian restaurant!
Route 16 is a major road that runs from East to West, through Everett. Because Everett is situated so close to Boston, Route 1, and Route 93, drivers commuting from as far away as New Hampshire will often travel through Everett on their commute to work in Boston. I know first-hand how congested Route 16 in Everett can become, especially at rush hour. Everett residents and the people of Greater Boston should take extra special care to avoid a traffic collision with so many cars on the road and many out of state drivers. New Hampshire residents are not required to carry car insurance. For this reason, it is even more important that Massachusetts residents carry adequate insurance and are prepared for the worst-case situation of being in an accident with an uninsured driver.
